# Theme Editor

Theme Editor lets organization admins configure a branded dashboard style. It supports safe draft editing, local preview, and a clear upgrade path before a theme is published to end users.

## Modes

| Mode | Behavior |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Demo enabled | Admins can edit, save drafts, and preview locally. Publishing is blocked. |
| Fully licensed | Admins can save drafts and publish the theme for the organization. |
| Deactivated | The Theme Editor sidebar entry disappears and theme editing is unavailable. |

## What it enables

| Capability | Use case |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Brand colors | Align the dashboard with your organization’s visual identity. |
| Surface styling | Preview how cards, navigation, and page surfaces feel before rollout. |
| Draft saving | Continue editing without exposing draft work to end users. |
| Controlled publishing | Publish only after the organization has licensed the addon. |

## Recommended setup

1. Start from the current dashboard style and adjust one visual area at a time.
2. Save drafts frequently while testing contrast and readability.
3. Preview core pages such as Dashboard, Releases, Settings, and Addons.
4. Upgrade only when the theme is ready to publish for end users.
5. Keep brand changes accessible in both light and dark modes.

## Demo-mode behavior

Demo mode is intentionally safe: admins can test the custom style locally, but end users continue seeing the published organization theme. A notice appears in the dashboard while demo mode is active so admins understand that the draft is not live.
